The Antigua Barbuda Association of Small Business Owners hosted the 3rd Annual LEAP! The SME Conference

St. John’s, Antigua (May 25th 2018) – The Antigua Barbuda Association of Small Business Owners (ABASBO) hosted LEAP! 2018: The SME Conference, which was a two day event held on May 23rd and 24th 2018 at Jolly Beach Resort & Spa. This is the Association’s 3rd year hosting this Conference. The theme for this year’s conference is Disrupt. Innovate. Grow. LEAP! 2018 attracted Business Owners, Corporate Leaders, Entrepreneurs, SMEs, aspiring Entrepreneurs and Women Leaders.

  • Day One of LEAP! 2018 was the General Conference which was geared towards all aspiring business owners and entrepreneurs as well as existing micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSME’s). The host for Leap 2018 was Lisa Abraham, an Entrepreneur and avid Drag Racer. The first speaker was Tevin Shepherd, St. Lucia Youth Advocate and Fitness Enthusiast. Mr Shepherd’s presentation was quite motivational where he shared his experiences for the pursuit of higher education while only having a “grapefruit and 50 cents” as his daily allowance. The second speaker was Warren Cassell, Antigua/Montserrat Co-founder, WestIndianLawyers.com, Mr. Cassell presentation was based on pertinent information regarding the use of Trademarks and Patents in Business. The third speaker was Janice Sutherland, Antigua CEO of JaniceSutherland.com, Janice’s presentation motivated the attendees to use their best “sales pitch” when selling or promoting their products and/or services. The fourth speaker was Telly Onu, St. Kitts Founder, Beyond Capital Markets. Ms. Onu’s presentation gave a brief synopsis of blockchain technology in business. The fifth speaker was Dr. Kenneth Onu, St. Vincent Motivational Speaker, Author, Coach. Affectionately called Dr. Ken, his presentation was based on the belief that your thoughts can affect the outcome of your situation. The sixth speaker was Gabriel Abed, Barbados Founder of Bitt Inc. and Digital Asset Fund. Mr. Abed’s presentation was via remote connection as he presented Live from Barbados and it was in a Q&A format. He answered FAQs regarding Cryptocurrency and its origins and how it presently affects businesses. The day ended with the Panel of Speakers answering questions from the attendees at LEAP 2018 the SME Conference.
  • On Day 2 on May 24th in the morning was the “Blockchain & Cryptocurrency for Business & Investing” Post-Conference Workshop. The presenters for this workshop were Telly Onu St. Kitts Founder, Beyond Capital Markets and McKenzie M. Slaughter, USA Prohaus Capital and Beauty and the Bull. This was an interactive workshop where participants learned more information regarding the fundamentals of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency and investing opportunities to help you properly align and incorporate them into your business practice.
  • In the afternoon on May 24th was Women LEAP!, a half-day session designed for women in business and corporate leaders to discuss “Investing & Wealth Building Opportunities for Women & Families”. The first speaker was Tanya Smith, Canada – CEO of Tanya Smith International who presented on the importance of Disrupting and coming out of your Comfort Zone in order to take that big LEAP of faith! The second presenter was Sandra Baptist, Antigua Founder, ABASBO and CEO, PACCS Inc. who presented on Retirement Funding and gave an interactive session on why it is important to start saving NOW for retirement. The third presenter was McKenzie Slaughter, USA Prohaus Capital and Beauty and the Bull whose presentation gave in depth analysis on how women can tap into different income streams to earn more.
