Press Release: The second Women Innovators Network of the Caribbean (WINC) Accelerated Program held its Closing Event and Graduation at the Blue Waters Resort & Spa

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, 27th June 2018: The Women Innovators Network of the Caribbean (WINC) Acceleration Program held its closing event and Graduation at the Blue Waters Resort & Spa. Over the last eight months the WINC Acceleration Program was held amongst Female Entrepreneurs in Antigua and Barbuda. The Facilitator for the WINC AP was Ms. Sandra Baptist, FCCA, Chartered Director and CEO of PACCS Inc. 

The WINC Acceleration Program is a peer mentorship-based program to support high-potential women entrepreneurs in the Caribbean. The eight-month intensive Acceleration Program provided participants with a wide range of support services to innovate their businesses, improve competitiveness and boost their growth. This included peer-learning, personal development, one-to-one mentoring/coaching, technical workshops and motivational sessions by successful entrepreneur role models.

In Antigua and Barbuda, Women entrepreneurs were considered for selection provided that;

  • they have been running their business for at least two years,
  • the business has demonstrated growth, and
  • they have realistic plans for substantial future growth.

According to Ms. Sandra Baptist, WINC Facilitator:  “The Women Innovators Network of the Caribbean (WINC) Acceleration Program is a Women mentoring program that supports female entrepreneurs in various businesses in Antigua and Barbuda. This eight month programme linked women leaders in fashion, accounting  and the service industries and it involved  mentorship and coaching sessions. This is my second time facilitating the WINC Acceleration Program and overall, I am extremely pleased with the success of the WINC Acceleration Program!”

The WINC Acceleration Program is an initiative which is part of the Entrepreneurship Program for Innovation in the Program in the Caribbean (EPIC), funded by the Government of Canada and implemented by the World Bank Group and its infoDev program for entrepreneurship. Women entrepreneurs in various Caribbean countries are eligible for selection provided that they have a firm that has been in business for several years, has demonstrated significant business growth and has realistic plans for future growth.
